It is foundational to the overall understanding of carpet. Its topics include chemistry, fibers, fiber identification, manufacturing methods, dye methods, soil, cleaning methods, pre-inspection, crew procedures, health & safety, and stain removal. 2- Day CCT Classes start at 7:30 AM and go to 6:00 PM 3 - Day CCT Classes start at 8 AM and go to 5 PM and will have more hands on time and an easier pace. UFT stands for Upholstery Cleaning Technician and has the same basic topics as CCT. However, upholstery cleaning has many dissimilarities compared to carpet. Much time will be devoted to physically studying these fabrics and their limitations. CCMT stands for Commercial Carpet Maintenance Technician. It is similar to CCT with respect to chemistry and cleaning methods. However, it emphasizes maintaining the appearance of a carpet over doing a restorative cleaning. There is an additional focus on how to make a maintenance contract and how commercial maintenance works with the janitorial service companies, as well as security and other parties. CRT stands for Color Repair Technician. CCT or CCMT is required as a pre-requisite to taking this course. Its topics include color and dye theory, reasons for color loss and how to re-apply the dyes. Unique to this instructor’s training is the use of pH and ORP meters as well as RYB colormeter apps. Only a few other instructors teach this as well. Much of this class is hands-on as well as one third of the IICRC exam. Classes done in Frisco, Texas are done in the home of James B. Smith and are limited.
